RIDING FOR A CURE RIDING FOR A CURE EXPANDS TO TWO MAJOR EVENTS IN 2009
TO RAISE FUNDS FOR UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION

(Wayne, Ill.) - Since its inception in 2002, Riding For A Cure Incorporated II (RFAC) has raised nearly $450,000 toward cancer research, including a record $100,000 last year. In 2009, RFAC looks to topple that mark by scheduling two major fundraising events geared to the equestrian community.

In addition to the annual 20-mile trail ride, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18, RFAC has scheduled for the first time a Champagne and Saddle Pads event to be held as part of the Equifest II $25,000 Grand Prix on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 2:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Ill.

The inaugural Champagne and Saddle Pads event will feature the area’s best horses and riders jumping over five-foot obstacles. The $75 ticket price will include; cocktails, appetizers and ring side seating for the afternoon. For an additional charge there will also be, “The Pops and Pearls Bar”. With this you will receive a pink pearl bracelet, a unique champagne flute with the RFAC logo and the continuous flow of champagne. In addition, there will be limited chances ($100 each) to win more than $1,000 in cash and other prizes on the winner of the Grand Prix.

Reservations for Champagne and Saddle Pads closes Tuesday, July 28, 2009. To purchase your ticket or for more information: contact Lindsay Heil at 847-401-9266 or online at www.ridingforacure.org.

Later in August, RFAC will hold its eighth annual trail ride on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Check-in at the Lamplight Equestrian Center will begin at 11 a.m., followed by lunch with the 20-mile trail ride slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. Following the ride, there will be a
“down home” barbeque and musical entertainment.

Each rider must raise a minimum of $150 in pledges to participate. Registration is $60 for riders providing their own horse and $175 for those wishing to rent a pony (limited availability). For those wishing to attend the barbecue only, tickets may be purchased for $60. Registration for the trail ride closes Friday, Aug. 14.

To participate as a rider, to pledge a rider or to purchase a “dinner-only” ticket, contact Lindsay Heil at 847-401-9266 or on line at www.ridingforacure.org.
