((Wayne, Ill.) - Riding For A Cure (RFAC) received official status
as a 501c3, not-for-profit organization. Previously, Riding For
A Cure was operating as a third party fundraiser for The University
of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation.
“As a 501c3 not-for-profit organization Riding For A Cure
will continue to work with the University of Chicago Cancer Research
Foundation and support cancer research in a quest to find a cure
for cancer,” said RFAC founder Christine Gabriel.
Christine Gabriel the founder of RFAC is a FOUR time cancer survivor.
The organization was started in 2002 when Gabriel was the television
personality for Arlington Park Racetrack. Gabriel had the vision
to see that many horsemen wanted to donate, time, money and effort
against
this disease. Working with horses is a 24/7 job, making
this task a very difficult one. With RFAC
she made supporting this cause fun and
beneficial. Thus giving the participants an opportunity to
be a part of a possible cure one day.
